Esther M. Ehlke
Oshkosh -- Esther M. Ehlke, age 94, of Oshkosh, formerly of Winneconne, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born October 22, 1908, the daughter of Frank and Augusta (Seelow) Milgert. After graduating from Neenah High School, Esther worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Henry Schultz. She married Edward A. Ehlke on October 10, 1936 in the Town of Greenville, and they made their home in the Village of Winneconne for 64 years where Mr. Ehlke was in business. Esther was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne, and its Ladies Aid. She was also involved in Civic League for over 50 years as well as many other organizations.
Esther is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edward Ehlke, of Oshkosh; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Kay Ehlke, of Oshkosh, Thomas and Kristine Ehlke, of Germany; and Paul and Diane Ehlke, of Carlsbad, California; seven grandchildren, Steven, William, Suzanne, Tommy, Meilin, Megan, and Matthew; and five great-grandchildren.
Her parents, one sister, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law preceded Esther in death.
Funeral services to celebrate Esther's life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2003 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne, with Pastor John Covach and Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial to follow in the Winneconne Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of services. Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Esther's name for St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church.
