Ehlke, Robert (Bob) Robert (Bob) Ehlke, (Ehlke Welding), age 75 of Oshkosh, passed away at his home on Sunday afternoon July 11, 2004 with his family by his side. Bob's brave battle with a blood disorder and cancer is over and he is at peace and eternal rest. Bob was born on May 3, 1929 the son of Arthur and Henrietta Ehlke. He was raised on a farm in Appleton. Bob worked on the farm, and as a young man was also employed at The Fuhrman Canning Factory in Appleton. Later he worked as a sheet metal worker at Miller Electric of Appleton. On October 3, 1953 Bob married Patricia Soappman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. After they were married, they moved to California for a short time and Bob worked at Hoffman Construction. When they moved back to Wisconsin, Bob worked in the papermill at Kimberly-Clark, The Marathon Company, Frank Leach Hardware, part-time at Consolidated Gas and Putzer Metal Fabricating. He also was a foreman and welder at Marvel Scaffolding. In 1972 Bob started his own business, Ehlke Welding. Bob and Pat raised four children: Diana, Debbie, Donna and David. Bob sponsored a fast-pitch softball team, Ehlke Welding and also a bowling team. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, dartball, spending time at his cabin and watching football. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and The Oshkosh Builders Association. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ehlke, his parents, a sister, Dorothy Striegel, two brothers: Wilbur and Wally Ehlke, sister-in-law, Mildred Ehlke, his father and mother-in-law, Clare and Lorraine Soappman. He is survived by his four children: Diana (Ron) Schettl, Debra (Steven) Schroeder, Donna (Michael) Bartow, Dave (Kristin) Ehlke, a sister, Millie (Charles) Nackers, brother-in-law, Robert Striegel, sisters and brothers-in-law: Lauralee and Joe Kosmer, Margie and Jim Hunt; six grandchildren: Adam and Eric Schettl, Oshkosh; Brian Schroeder, Glen Ellyn, IL; Stephanie Schroeder, Normal, IL; Jennifer and Matthew Bartow, Columbus, GA; and grand dog, Reggie Ehlke. Bob is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by a special friend, Eileen, life-long friend, Richard Van Handel, of Appleton. Bob's family would also like to acknowledge his close friends: Dave Kiesow, Art Howard and Dave Krause, for their care and assistance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 15 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Reyenbeau officiating. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Visitation for Bob will be held in The Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Avenue, Oshkosh from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday July 14. A prayer service celebrating Bob's life will be held in The Poklasny Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends may also call at the church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Robert's name. Bob's family wishes to extend a sincere Thank You and appreciation to Dr. Karen Gremminger, her staff, the nurses at Mercy Scheduled Procedure Area (SPA), with a special Thank You to Sharen McMullin. Also Janice Williams of Theda Care at Home and Dr. Hocking of the Marshfield Clinic for their care and attention. The Everlasting Light Those we Love must someday pass beyond our present sight...
